It is the right to speak.

It is the right to give one’s opinion.

It is the right to tell the truth.

👉 But sometimes, certain words cause harm.

These are hate speech.

They can hurt individuals and communities.

To help, the UN created the Rabat Principles.

These principles provide six rules for determining:

• whether speech is dangerous,
• and whether it should be punished by law.
